I have been impacted by breast cancer my entire life. I was 18 when my mom died at age 40 from breast cancer. My younger sisters have been diagnosed with breast cancer in their 30’s. One is currently in remission. The youngest died last November from metastatic breast cancer. I have worked for the last 10 years as a breast sonographer in the Breast Imaging Department at Scott and White in Round Rock. I was determined that any patient that left my room despite of their diagnosis I would find some way to empower them that they ARE NOT what is happening to them or what happened to them. I wanted them to know that if they changed the way they thought then they would overcome whatever life throws at them, even when faced with the worst news. I loved empowering my patients and encouraging them to set their mind higher on what they have to live for than what diagnosis they were given.
I left my job in November 2017 to pursue my passion in empowering women through my photography. I love having my clients’ journal about where there are, who they are, where they want to be and what they have been through! It’s therapeutic in its own way. I use this to empower my clients in showing them what they really have overcome and how their stories can help others. I then create the most amazing legacy prints for them that they will have to pass down for generation after generation.
I prayed long and hard how to leave my mark in this world. God revealed to me to use my gift of photography and my heart for seeing beauty in others when they may have forgotten or just might not see it anymore.
BCRC has always been there for my patients as well as my family when in need. I feel I owe them everything. I am so passionate about their cause to help these survivors and patients I just wanted to offer to give back in the best way I know how.
I want to tell these women’s stories to my audience as well as create the most beautiful photographs they have ever seen of themselves. I am so blessed to have this opportunity and I’m thanking God for this powerful gift I can give them.
Photos by Felicia Reed and comments from BCRC clients:
“Felicia and her entourage were so much fun to work with. They made me feel like part of the family. I loved how Felicia called me the night before to talk about what I might want to highlight and gave me pointers on what to wear (and what not to wear – I totally changed my thinking of wardrobe after talking to her). She was such a delight, always laughing and smiling even when things didn’t come out the way she thought. She was such a professional and wanted to make sure to capture not just a great picture but personality as well. I appreciate Felicia taking the time out of her busy schedule to offer her talents to BCRC clients. It was so much fun to be pampered. I will treasure the photos, but more importantly, I will treasure how she made me feel during our brief encounter.”
“Felicia did an amazing job. The whole experience helped me have a completely different view of myself after my surgery.”
The BCRC is thankful for the time, talent and generosity of Felicia and her team for capturing beautiful photos for our clients and their loved ones. This is the second year in a row Felicia has donated her time to our clients.
