This San Francisco native moved to Austin just three years ago, and is currently studying Cosmetology at Avenue Five Institute. Ashley is in love with the beauty industry and plans to move to LA after graduating to pursue a career in SFX artistry. When she designs, Ashley draws inspiration from her experiences traveling in and out of the country. Her artistic style always leans towards having a darker edge with a touch of femininity. This style shines through perfectly with the design of “Lady Mazos.”
One could also say Ashley is a perfectionist in her craft; she went through four bras before finally designing a look that matched her initial concepts. Ashley’s inspiration for “Lady Mazos” came from the costume design of the main character in the film, “Queen of the Damned,” played by the sultry actress, Aaliyah. Ashley fell in love with Aaliyah’s strong, sexy armor that portrayed a look of equal parts fierceness and femininity. She decided to replicate the piece by creating an indomitable art bra design, full of chains, links, studs, and rhinestones, fit to be worn by a fierce fighter against breast cancer.
Ashley Vaughn dedicates her art bra to her mother, Ana, who has pushed, supported, and encouraged Ashley to do the things she wants to do. In her own words, she credits her mother, “Without her, I would not have gotten the chance to be a part of this amazing opportunity.”
